Questions & Answers

John Ritschel

Will VoiP work if you’re not at home?

Yes, VoIP works by using your internet or WiFi connection to make phone calls. This means that your calls can be forwarded to your mobile device, or between different landlines. Different VoIP providers also have features such as Voicemail to SMS, and more.
Karen Moore

Will VoiP work with any office phone system?

Thank you for your question Karen. Compatibility will depend on the VoIP system you choose, and the current phone system you are using. In general, just about any phone system can be converted to a VoIP system. You may have to make some technical adjustments, like increasing your internet speed, and you may have to purchase some hardware.

We recommend choosing one or two providers based on the features you are looking for (like international calls, unlimited virtual phone numbers, etc.) and contact them directly to help you determine how their system might work with your current system.
George G Washington

Can a cell phone be used? Are there any restrictions relative to the type or available cell phone features ? Can you send me a schematic of the arrangement?

Hi George, thank you for your question. The short answer is yes, your cell phone or mobile device can be used with your VoIP system. Each provider and system will work slightly differently. Here is an article that explains a bit more about the topic.

Can we keep our current phone number?

Yes. You can transfer (port) your existing toll-free or local phone numbers to RingCentral. The porting process takes approximately 2-4 weeks and is dependent on how quickly your current provider releases the phone numbers. Unfortunately, we cannot help expedite the porting process.
